Who We Are
A Firm Foundation
Hill City Fellowship of the Arts (HCFA) is a non-denominational Christian organization rooted in the historical orthodoxies of the Christian faith. We believe that God is the Creator of all things, including music and the arts, and that there are sanctifying benefits to working together to make something beautiful.
While we are a Christian organization, we are open to non-believing participants, provided those participants agree to interact with us peacefully and respectfully.
Organizational Structure: Platform & Production
The HCFA operates as a parent organization that provides the philosophical and operational "scaffolding" for local musical ensembles. We distinguish between the Platform (the HCFA) and the Production (the individual ensemble, implemented through Seasons).
The HCFA Platform
The HCFA sits apart from the daily rehearsals of any single group. It provides the Philosophy, Process, and Provision that all affiliate ensembles observe.
Philosophy
Our commitment to “Opportunity Making” and Christian Fellowship
Process
A standardized “Toolkit” for Fundraising, Recruiting and Production Planning
Provision
Start-up funding and financial support
The Ensemble Level: The "Three-Legged Stool"
While the HCFA provides the map, the Production Team drives the vehicle. Every HCFA-affiliated ensemble is led by a production team consisting of three distinct lanes of leadership:
1. The Director
Artistic Vision & Musical Experience. The Director owns the "musical win," ensuring that the repertoire and rehearsals encourage, challenge, and inspire the ensemble while remaining true to the HCFA mission.
2. The Business Manager
Financial Health & Stewardship. The Business Manager owns the budget, fundraising, and the "Season Charter," ensuring that the ensemble operates within the HCFA's standards for fiscal responsibility and transparency.
3. The Personnel Coordinator
Participant Experience & Hospitality. The Personnel Coordinator owns the "relational win," focusing on recruitment and the social environment that allows fellowship to flourish among the musicians.
The goal of the HCFA is to provide ensembles with enough guidance and infrastructure to ease their production efforts while allowing each ensemble to be unique and creative. So long as an ensemble can provide a leadership team that will consider the art, the financial health, and the culture, the HCFA will allow that ensemble to effectively run itself.
To Everything There is a Season
We don't just play music; we build seasons. Our model uses time bound cycles focused on a specific theme. This allows our musicians to dive deep into a project, perform at their best, and then reset—making it easier to fit their participation into their lives.
Our season model is designed for connection. By working in defined project blocks, we create a shared journey for our musicians and our audience. Each season has a clear beginning, a transformative performance, and an end, ensuring that every note we play builds a lasting community
.This approach allows us to remain agile, selecting music and venues that fit our specific vision for each concert. For musicians, it’s a commitment to a singular goal; for the community, it’s a fresh, curated experience every time the curtain rises.
