Our Ensembles
HCFA Concert Band
Our Primary Ensemble
The Concert Band is the flagship expression of the HCFA mission. Bringing together community musicians, educators, and students, the Symphonic Band is a reunion of band geeks from every generation.
The Model: Operating in time-bound "Seasons," the band allows local wind and percussion players to commit to the ensemble as often as each musician chooses.
The Goal: To provide a bridge between the practice room and the stage for the many talented instrumentalists in the Lynchburg region.
2026 Schedule: The HCFA Concert Band hopes to have two concert seasons in 2026.
Symphonic Band Conductor

Among Jim’s personal awards and honors are the 2010 Virginia Music Educator of the Year, the BandWorld/John Philip Sousa Legion Laurate (2014), and the 2015 Distinguished Alumnus Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Shenandoah Conservatory of Music
